Today they host me in a beautiful accommodation facility, the <strong>former podest\u00e0&#8217;s house<\/strong>, completely renovated and managed by them.<\/p>\n<p>Villamar, once called <strong>Mara Arbarei<\/strong>, has a historic center rich in history. The whole area around is full of gardens and vegetable gardens. Here once passed the Flumini Mannu, the one that flows into Cagliari, then diverted, on which there were mills and <em>norias <\/em>(some sort of bucketed water wheels). Today there is a playground here and, not far away, the <strong>Cooperativa Sardo Sole<\/strong>, a flour and pasta supply chain.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"figure aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11729\" src=\"http:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-8.jpg\" alt=\"Villamar\" width=\"1365\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-8.jpg 1365w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-8-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-8-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-8-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1365px) 100vw, 1365px\" \/><figcaption class=\"figure-caption text-center\">The hills around Villamar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Outside the village there is an <strong>old Roman bridge<\/strong> with the buried remains of some <strong>thermal baths<\/strong>, and further away, on a hill, the remains of a <strong>castle<\/strong> that marked the border between the Giudicato of C\u00e0ralis and that of Arborea. And then many remains of nuraghi and rural churches, such as that of <strong>Nostra Signora di Monserrato<\/strong>, today called <em>Santa Maria de Sinnas de Mara<\/em>, inside the homonymous park with an area equipped for picnics; or that of the <strong>Madonna d&#8217;Itria<\/strong>, where a legend says that here the oxen pulled the cart that carried the statue (which I saw at the parish church and which was originally intended for <a href=\"http:\/\/377project.com\/en\/330-377-pauli-arbarei\/\">Pauli Arbarei<\/a>) stopped. This <strong>street art tradition<\/strong>, started here by <strong>Antioco Cotza<\/strong> in the seventies, continues flourishing to the present day. His house is teeming with his works. In particular, I am struck by the painting that portrays the flooded village (a reference to the &#8220;Mara&#8221; or &#8220;-mar&#8221; deriving from the word sea) and the painting entitled &#8220;If Villamar were a city.&#8221; But the most incredible thing I see is when Antonio opens a trap door in the center of the living room: not even a meter below opens a well from the 6th century BC!<\/p>\n<figure class=\"figure aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11725\" src=\"http:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-6.jpg\" alt=\"Villamar\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" srcset=\"https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-6.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-6-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-6-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-6-600x600.jpg 600w, https:\/\/377project.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/351-Villamar-blog-6-768x768.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"figure-caption text-center\">Work by Antonio Sanna<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The second character is <strong>Luigi Murgia<\/strong>, artist producer of barrels converted into furniture, but not only. His house is full of various objects he created, in wood, with a &#8220;Sardinian&#8221; taste. He proudly shows us polished sticks, painted pumpkins, object holders, trays and much more.
